Well, there's a reason. The site, which hosts all of Gotham's internetbroadcats is undergoing a few changes as we get ready to make a major announcement later this week.
As GBM's Mark Healey pointed out in his most recent column, the Mets have
their fair share of concerns going into 2008. They lack a fifth
starter. The management of their bullpen is questionable. Several
players had poor years on offense. But to hear the average Mets fan
tell it, the team is doomed to a second place finish in 2008. The Mets
may not be the favorite in the NL East, but they’re certainly not out
of it before the season starts.
Gotham Baseball Magazine, founded in 2005, is the only periodical
dedicated to comprehensive coverage of New York area baseball. A
subsidiary of Gotham Sports Media LLC, (www.gothamsportsmedia.com) its
mission is to fully cover the past, present and future of the New York
game.
Ever eince the New York Daily News became "NY's Picture Newspaper", sports photgraphy has become a Gotham speciality. GBM's Ken Klinger would agree, though his work is more lyrical - MH
(Editor's Note) There are few people in baseball that have seen, heard and experienced the New York Game like Marty Appel. His journey from baseball fan to public relations master to award-winning author is more than enough of a story for anyone -- which you can read in Appel's magnificent book Now Pitching For The Yankees-- but he's also written about thousands more. Thanks to the graciousness of Mr. Appel and his company , Marty Appel Public Relations, Gotham Baseball is proud to share with you the superb stories from his archives. I am sure you will enjoy them as much as we have. - MH
Why do we care so much about our local New York teams?
Alex Rodriguez, David Wright, Jose Reyes, and Derek Jeter don’t know
us. Although it's likely that they're all nice people, it's quite
possible they don’t stress about our mundane workplace deadlines. So,
why is it then, that all winter, fans have obsessed about the Mets
starting pitching needs or whether the Yankees should trade Phil Hughes
for Johan Santana?
We have seen many managers and head coaches come and go here in Gotham.
Just over the last ten years there have been over twenty coaches and
managers leading local teams. Baseball fans have seen the Mets and
Yankees as the beacons of stability by only contributing four to that
total.
