The Gotham Class of 2007

A month has passed since the major league baseball draft, and with an August 15th signing date approaching, many of those selected have signed and begun their professional careers. An update on the highlights of the past month for the Gotham Class of 2007.

Undrafted free agent Sam DeLuca (St. John’s) signed with the Mets, although he has not yet been assigned to a roster. A pair of Kean products, Dan Augustine (Kansas City) and Dan Zeffiro (Cincinnati) have also signed contracts as undrafted free agents. TCNJ catcher, and three-time Division III All America Gerard Haran has signed with St. George of the Golden Baseball League, and drove in four runs in his first start for the team.

Another pair of NJAC stars, Rutgers-Newark’s Matt Kimball and Montclair State’s Michael Vicaro have also signed independent contracts. Vicaro is 5-2 with the New Jersey Jackals of the Can-Am league while Kimball made his debut on July 8th for the Newark Bears.
