Art Shamsky, a member of the 1969 New York Mets, will be appearing on Gotham Sports Radio's flagship broadcast "Live From Mickey Mantle's" this Friday, March 14, at 6:00 pm EDT. Shamsky and award-winning author Marty Appel were named Senior Editors by Gotham Baseball Magazine on Tuesday.
Writer Ron Kaplan, on his website BaseballSavvy.com, wrote of Shamsky " (He) may not have been a Hall of Famer, but for Mets fans during
their “amazin’” World Championship season of 1969, his legacy is no
less meaningful."
Couldn't have written it better myself (hence the link).
As an author (The Magnificent Seasons), ballplayer (four HRs in consecutive at-bats) and radio/TV personality (Fox 5, WFAN), not to mention getting his handsome mug on the cover of BAZAAR, Shamsky was -- and still very much is -- is a very popular New York sports figure
Shamsky, thanks to numerous public speaking engagements, his guest spot on "Everybody Loves Raymond" and the enduring imagery of the 1969 New York Mets, is a sought-after fellow, and we are very fortunate to have appear live with us this week.
Art will discuss the 1969 Mets, his book, The Magnificent Seasons, and of course, joining Gotham Baseball Magazine!
If you can't see it or hear it live, all of Gotham Sports Radio's programs are available on iTunes, and if you have a question you'd like to ask Art on the air, the call-in number is (347) 324-3989.
(Editor's Note) Our other Senior Editor, Marty Appel, appeared on "Live From Mickey Mantle's" recently to talk about his upcoming book, fantastic career as a Yankee PR Director, and other stuff. Click Here to Listen!
