With the reporting of pitchers and catchers clearly in our rearview
mirror the focus of exhibition games is at the forefront of fans minds
here in Gotham. What better way to kick off the exhibition season then to catch up with
two friends of ours here at Gotham Baseball Magazine: Peter Abraham of
“The Journal News” and Adam Rubin of the “New York Daily News”.
As you
probably already know, Pete and Adam are the beat reporters for the
Yankees and Mets respectively. I had a chance to catch up with each in
a short special edition of Gotham Baseball Live.
On Monday, Peter Abraham gave us an inside look into Joe Girardi’s camp. Some of the topics discussed were the team’s reaction to the leadership change, secondary positional battles, and the young starting pitching trio. To listen to the entire interview click here.
We moved over to Port St. Lucie on Tuesday and caught up with Adam Rubin after the Mets game against the University of Michigan. Adam did a great job giving us highlights from the game, talking about the team’s new attitude, and insight into some of the Mets prospects. To listen to the interview click here.
I know I speak for all the fans here in Gotham that watching baseball, exhibition or otherwise, is a great sight for these sore eyes. After a winter of steroids talk and the New York Knicks there is not better cure then baseball. As Omar Minaya said at the Johan Santana press conference “We now move on to the city game”.
